Help make Additional Dwelling Units (ADUs) an option for more Chicagoans!

ADUs are a sensible solution to provide affordable and flexible housing options in Illinois. Not only do they make use of existing infrastructure and housing stock, but they are also environmentally friendly and respectful of a neighborhood’s style.
In a recent AARP survey, most respondents say they would consider creating one to help with housing for a loved one, a guest or a caregiver, to provide extra income or increase the value of their home, or to feel safer by having someone close by.
AARP Chicago supported Chicago’s new ADU ordinances, which allow people in five zones across the city to create additional living spaces, so people can live with their family as they get older. Lawmakers are now considering expanding this ordinance to more parts of the city.
