Support DC's Grandparent Caregiver Program

Over 7,000 children under the age of 18 in the District live in grandparent-led households. There is financial assistance available to help these caregivers offset the costs of caring for children who may otherwise end up in the foster care system. DC's Grandparent Caregiver Program (GCP) provides a monthly subsidy to eligible District of Columbia residents who are raising their grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great nieces, or great nephews. Caregivers use the funds for items and activities that benefit the children, such as groceries, school supplies, and summer camps.

AARP District of Columbia is fighting to protect the Grandparent Caregiver Program and other senior programs and services. Join us and make your voice heard by emailing the message below to your Councilmember to let them know that protecting and strengthening this program should be a priority. We encourage you to customize this message by including why this program is important to you.
