Tell Your Ohio Senator to Restore High-Speed Internet Funding

We fought hard to get HB 2 passed and signed into law, creating the Ohio Residential Broadband Expansion Grant Program. This provides a way for us to help Ohio's families and businesses by expanding access to high-speed internet. The Ohio House planned to allocate $190 million for its funding, but the Ohio Senate wants to take this away.

High-speed internet access is a state priority for our families and businesses. As your constituent, I am urging you to restore the additional funding for HB 2’s Ohio Residential Broadband Expansion Grant Program in the state budget.

Our families still need to be able to connect safely. High-speed internet grants our communities access to telehealth services, and caregivers would be able to provide help virtually. Our more senior Ohioans are important to us, and they deserve a way to combat isolation and to get convenient healthcare. 
We know Ohio is an innovative state. To continue to be one, we need to close the digital divide upheld by the lack of quality internet access. Local businesses need high-speed connectivity to operate and compete for a healthy economy. Studies already show high-speed internet access would aid in job creation through business investment in rural communities. Still, 25% of our rural communities lack this access. As the world becomes more connected, so do the businesses we interact with on a daily basis.

We know of the bipartisan support HB 2 received. The $190 million the House allocated to expand high-speed internet access is essential for Ohio to receive. We need you to follow through with funding this critical opportunity.
