Push Back Against Rising Water Rates

The Water Rates Are Too High

In a recent filing with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC), Indiana American Water is looking to raise water rates by 30 percent over the next two years. This could mean some customers will see their bills increase an average of $14 a month.

AARP Indiana is concerned about this proposed increase because so many older Hoosiers and their families already struggle to pay their utility bills along with other household expenses like food and medicine.

That’s why AARP Indiana is encouraging customers like you to raise your voice before you pay more. You can take action now to make your voice heard before you pay more. Share your thoughts with the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC) and let them know how this increase would impact you.

The deadline to submit your comments is July 14.
