Tell The Public Service Commission To Oppose These Rate Hikes

Submit Your Comments To the Public Service Commission

The Kentucky Public Service Commission is considering proposals from Louisville Gas & Electric (LG&E) and Kentucky Utilities (KU) that could raise your electric and gas rates.

When so many in our state are already struggling with the economic fallout of the pandemic, we cannot afford a 12 percent rate hike on our electric bills and a 9 percent increase on our gas bills.

Included in the request is an increase to the customer charge – the fee you pay before even turning on the lights. These higher charges punish older Kentuckians, who tend to use less electricity.

Utility rates are an essential pocketbook issue for Kentucky residents 50-plus and their families, many of us whom struggle to balance paying utility bills and other household expenses along with buying food and medicine.

Please submit written comments to the Public Service Commission to express your opposition to these rate hikes.

Dear Decision Makers,

I urge the Kentucky Public Service Commission to deny LG&E and KU’s request for unneeded rate proposals (PSC DOCKET 2020-00350 and 0049).

The proposed residential increase is high and places an unfair burden on residential gas and electric customers - especially during a pandemic.

LG&E & KU proposes increasing utility bills for residential customers by over 9% for gas and nearly 12% for electric. The Kentucky Public Service Commission should consider these requests too high and un-needed. LG&E and KU, as part of their request also increase the customer charges which make controlling your energy bill more difficult.

Utility rates are an essential pocketbook issue for people age 50-plus and their families, many of whom struggle to balance paying utility bills and other household expenses along with buying food and medicine.

Please oppose the un-justified LG&E and KU residential rate hike proposals.

Thank you,
