Thank You for Repealing Michigan's Retirement Tax
Dear Decision Maker,
I am writing as your constituent to thank you for voting YES on HB 4001.
I appreciate that you stood up for Michigan's older adults to finally repeal Michigan’s retirement tax, once and for all.
As you know, when the Legislature created the Michigan retirement tax in 2011, it pulled the rug out from under many Michiganders who were already on fixed incomes, forcing them to go back to work or delay retirement. Ever since then, it has continued to impact new waves of retirees by reducing the effective value of their retirement benefits.
Leading up to the November 2022 election, legislators across party lines promised to repeal this tax, and I am glad to see this promise has been kept.
Again, thank you for voting YES to repeal Michigan’s retirement tax and help restore retirement security for Michigan residents.
I wish you would have voted the other way on HB 4001
Dear Decision Maker,
I am writing as your constituent to let you know that I am disappointed with your vote against HB 4001 as reported by the conference committee. This bill repealed Michigan's retirement tax.

The state of retirement security in Michigan doesn’t just matter to individual retirees, but to our state’s economy as a whole. Leading up to the November 2022 election, legislators across party lines promised to repeal this tax.
Thankfully the bill passed without your vote. However, I am disappointed that you did not stand up for Michigan's retirees on this issue.
