Tell Oklahoma's Corporation Commissioners: Reject PSO's $597 Million Rate Hike

I Can’t Afford PSO’s $25 a Month Rate Hike

PSO filed an outrageous $597 million rate increase request earlier this year that would raise your electric bill by 16%, or $25 more every single month. That's $300 more a year coming out of your pocket.

Just last year, PSO customers absorbed a $12 a month increase. Since 2013, PSO has filed 11 rate hike requests totaling more than $2.3 billion. Enough is enough. Oklahoma ratepayers cannot afford to keep footing the bill.

For Oklahomans on fixed incomes already choosing between groceries, prescriptions, and keeping the lights on, another $25 a month only deepens the hardship they’re already facing.

We can fight this, but we need your voice. Join AARP Oklahoma and tell Oklahoma's Corporation Commissioners to reject PSO's $597 million rate hike request. This case is being heard at the Commission later this month, and time is short. AARP Oklahoma will collect your comments and deliver them directly to the Commissioners.

Please add your personal story to the box below and let our Corporation Commissioners know how rising utility bills are affecting your household . Without your voice, families and older Oklahomans already stretched thin could be left holding the PSO bill.

Your Message
Dear Commissioner,

As a Corporation Commissioner with the authority to protect Oklahoma ratepayers, I urge you to reject PSO’s current $597 million rate increase request. Electric bills are already stretching Oklahoma households to the breaking point. This proposal would raise my bill by 16%, or $25 more every month. That is $300 more a year that is unaffordable to many Oklahomans.

This is not an isolated increase. Since 2013, PSO has filed 11 rate increase requests totaling more than $2.3 billion. This pattern is simply not sustainable for Oklahoma families, especially those of us on fixed incomes. Just last year, I absorbed a $12 per month increase along with every other PSO customer.

Recent AARP Oklahoma research shows the real impact of rising utility costs:

- 65% of older Oklahomans have seen their electric bills increase in the past year
- 40% say another increase would be a major financial problem
- 40% are cutting back on basic needs like groceries, and 22% are falling behind on bills

These numbers reflect what many of us are living through. We are already making difficult choices between groceries, prescriptions, and keeping the lights on. Another increase would push many households further into financial hardship.

The decision is yours, and I urge you to make the right one by rejecting PSO’s rate increase request and standing with residential customers.

Sincerely,
