TAKE ACTION!
CDPAP is a program that allows consumers to choose and hire their own personal caregivers, who are often family or friends. They are eligible to receive payment for their services through Medicaid. The program helps family caregivers take care of their loved one at home, so the caregiver doesn’t have to choose between caregiving and earning a paycheck.
However, the Governor’s executive budget cut when fully implemented would cut CDPAP by $800 million, forcing tens of thousands of workers to choose between caregiving in poverty or finding new work that could take them away from their caregiving responsibilities, potentially leading to a crisis as older and disabled New Yorkers go without the services they need.
Please join us in urging your state legislators to reject cuts to CDPAP.
