I’m one of your constituents, and I urge you to protect nursing home residents by rejecting any bill that would cut the minimum staffing standards established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. If Congress guts these critical standards, America’s most vulnerable seniors will lose the protections they need.

As you read this, our older loved ones—mothers, fathers, grandparents, siblings, friends—aren’t getting the basic care they need in nursing homes across the country.

The nursing home industry is choosing profits over the lives of seniors. The nursing home industry with its private equity investors has paid hundreds of millions of dollars to shareholders and executives in stock buybacks, dividends and salaries—instead of investing in recruiting and retaining needed staff.

While the nursing home industry reaps profits, nursing home residents—our loved ones and members of our own communities—are forced to pay the price.
