TAKE ACTION!
Elder fraud is a serious threat. Many of these crimes go unreported, but even of those we know about, scams targeting individuals age 60 and older caused nearly $4.9 billion in losses in 2024 according to the FBI, with the average victim of elder fraud losing $83,000. That is a staggering 46% increase in complaints and a 43% increase in losses from 2023.
We can help protect older adults from financial exploitation by empowering financial institutions to intervene when they see a suspicious transaction that appears to be financial exploitation through theft or fraud, and there is a legislation on the table in Albany to do just that.
Please join us in urging state lawmakers to pass this legislation.
