Help Protect Everyone in Massachusetts from Scammers

Tell Legislators to Crack Down on Scammers

On October 7th 2025, the legislature's Joint Committee on Financial Services will hold a hearing on two bills (H1247 and S707) that would help protect Massachusetts consumers and crack down on the rampant fraud and scams that seem to be getting worse by the day.

You've probably gotten a call yourself that's actually a scammer in disguise. Hopefully you didn't answer, but tens of thousands of people have. And hundreds of millions are lost every year because these criminals are relentless and very skilled. The new, number one, way that crooks are getting money from victims is via so-called "Crypto ATMs." These machines are seemingly everywhere, with more than 600 across the Commonwealth. They allow a scammer to instruct someone to deposit vast sums of cash and convert it to cryptocurrencies, like BitCoin. Once the money is deposited, it is almost always gone forever and no law enforcement agency, not even the FBI, can get it back.

These bills would create commonsense regulations to stop scammers from exploiting these machines and harming so many. This is a problem that has exploded in recent years and gets worse every day. We cannot wait for action, these bills need to be passed TODAY, so no one's life savings are stolen, and these crooks can be held accountable.

Tell lawmakers to vote favorably on H1247 and S707 and stop scammers from victimizing the citizens of Massachusetts!
