Scammers have a new tool: cryptocurrency kiosks in supermarkets and convenience stores. Criminals have stolen hundreds of MILLIONS through crypto kiosks — most of it from victims 60 and older. And so much more has been lost through unreported fraud.

As your constituent, I urge you to take action to protect Americans from crypto kiosk scams.

Crypto kiosks are ATM-like devices in supermarkets and convenience stores — and criminals are using them to steal money from people all across the country. Sadly, older Americans are disproportionately impacted by crypto kiosk fraud, according to FBI data. In the first 11 months of 2025, the FBI found that criminals stole over $330 million from Americans using crypto kiosks. In fact, the Attorney General of Iowa found that, across the board, more than 94% of the transactions at crypto kiosks were the result of scams. This is completely unacceptable.

Now, as Congress considers cryptocurrency legislation, I urge you to oppose any provision that would preempt and weaken state laws for crypto kiosks. Nearly every state is actively responding to this growing threat, and Congress should not impede those efforts. Please ensure any final bill preserves state authority to combat crypto kiosk fraud and protect consumers — especially older Americans — from criminals who want to steal their savings.
