Too many nursing home residents suffered devastating effects from COVID-19. Whether it was the disease itself or the crippling effects of being isolated from their families for almost a year, our loved ones deserve better. While nursing homes are slated to receive over $100 million in additional taxpayer funds - money on top of their standard payments - Oklahoma continues to lag the nation in funding for home and community-based services. In fact, Oklahoma only dedicates 30% of its long-term care funding to home and community-based services. Many states have found improvements in care while better-utilizing funds by achieving a 50/50 balance between institutional and home-based care.
