New Yorkers are paying among the highest prices in the world for the medicine they need. It's outrageous. No one should have to choose between buying medicine and paying for food or rent.

The prices for vital drugs that millions of New Yorkers rely on to treat cancer, diabetes, and respiratory conditions such as asthma and COPD rose 22% from 2015 to 2020. Medications don’t work if people can’t afford them.

I urge Governor Hochul and my state legislators to take immediate action to make prescription drugs more affordable. New Yorkers like me depend on our prescriptions, especially during this pandemic, but drug companies' skyrocketing prices push life-saving treatments out of reach for too many who need them. These outrageously high prices impact all New Yorkers by raising premiums, out-of-pocket costs, and the price tag for taxpayer-supported programs such as Medicare and the New York State Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage program.

High drug prices are hitting New Yorkers like me hard every day, and we can’t afford to keep paying more than three times what people in other countries pay for the same prescription drugs. Whether it’s bringing the lower Rx prices paid in Canada to consumers here in New York, improving New York’s drug affordability programs, or ending the shady pay-for-delay deals that drug manufacturers use to delay access to lower-cost generic drugs, we need relief from high drug prices now. Please advance policies to lower drug prices here in New York. Thank you.
