AARP has heard many complaints about the Social Security Administration’s website crashing repeatedly. Additionally, 1 out of every 3 callers got a pre-recorded message saying lines are too busy before getting disconnected in March.
The AARP community recently fought against a rule that would’ve eliminated the ability to make Social Security claims over the phone. This rule was reversed thanks to our efforts — but lawmakers must do more to strengthen Social Security’s customer service.
