Age-Friendly New York City Petition

Federal budget cuts are threatening programs that older adults rely on, but New York City has the power to lead by adopting policies that make aging in NYC safe, inclusive, and empowering. We are calling on the new Mayor and City Council to make New York City truly age-friendly by investing in programs and policies that ensure older adults can age safely, actively, and with dignity in the communities they helped build and love.

Older adults have done their part to make New York City great. Now, it’s time to make sure it remains a great place for them as they age.

We are calling on City Hall to:

  • Advance age-inclusive housing that is affordable, accessible, and allows older adults to remain in their communities.
  • Ensure transportation is safe and age-friendly, with accessible options that keep older adults mobile and connected.
  • Invest in community-based services that promote independence, health, and social connection.
  • Develop a citywide strategy to combat ageism and make aging a visible, valued part of civic life.

Investing in older New Yorkers is not a burden — it’s a commitment to stronger, healthier communities for everyone.
