The Delaware Senate will soon vote on the DE EARNS Program, which will give Delaware workers an easy way to start saving for their future. We only have a few days to get this vital bill over the finish line!

Saving for retirement is one of the most important things you can do for your future. Please join us in urging your Senator to pass DE EARNS and put a more secure future within reach for all Delawareans!

Every day, over 152,000 Delawareans go to work without access to a 401(k) or any other way to save on the job. DE EARNS will change that. It creates a private-public partnership that helps small businesses access an easy, low-cost retirement savings option and helps ensure that all employees have the chance to set aside money for the future out of their regular paycheck.

Without retirement savings, many Delawareans will have to rely solely on Social Security to take care of themselves in their later years, and it’s just not enough. At this rate, half of all households are at risk of not being able to handle everyday expenses – like medicine, utilities, and rent – in their later years.

Research has shown that small businesses want to offer a retirement savings option, but can’t because of how costly and complicated it is. Delaware EARNS can change that.

With DE EARNS, businesses would have access to a simple, plug-and-play option that provides an easy pathway for owners and their workers to start building a safety net and growing the savings they need to take control of their future. All employers have to do is pass on information from the program and add a line-item deduction to payroll – with zero employer fees and no fiduciary responsibility. And, they can open an alternative retirement option of their choosing at any time.

It also helps smaller businesses compete with larger employers, helping them recruit and retain employees while sparing them the burden and liability of administering plans themselves.
