TELL NJ LAWMAKERS TO PASS S1066/A2418!
TELL NJ LAWMAKERS TO LOWER PRESCRIPTION DRUG COSTS NOW!
Drugs Don’t Work if People Can’t Afford Them
Too many Garden State residents are forced to choose between filling life-saving prescriptions and paying rent, buying food and meeting other critical needs. Nearly one in four New Jersey voters 50-plus reported they decided not to fill at least one of their prescriptions in the last two years, many citing cost as the reason.
The NJ Legislature and Governor must stand with voters and take action to rein in excessive drug prices now. Our state elected legislators can deliver meaningful reform by passing (S1066/A2418) to establish a Prescription Drug Affordability Board in New Jersey. The Board is an independent body that evaluates drug prices and recommends state action to limit how much state agencies pay for high-cost prescription medications. This board would help ensure prices are reasonable, justified and improve access and affordability for consumers.
A Prescription Drug Affordability Board bill targets the root cause of the problem: exorbitant prices set by drug manufacturers. In the last year alone, drug companies increased the prices of over 1,000 drugs – during a pandemic – including those for chronic conditions that people over age 50 depend on.
Tell your elected representatives: New Jerseyans shouldn’t have to choose between taking prescription medications and affording food or rent. It’s time to lower prescription drug costs now!
