IT'S NOT TOO LATE-Lawmakers Must Improve Access to Affordable Health Care

Email your state senator now.

We all understand the importance of affordable, quality health care. But what good is it if you can’t access that care when and where you need it? That is why we are fighting for Senate Sub HB 2279, to help family caregivers and their loved ones improve access to the care they need, when and where they need it.

Kansas ranks 40th in the nation for the number of physicians per 100,000 people. Modernizing our state’s outdated laws not only lets nurse practitioners and other advance practice registered nurses fully do their jobs, but with the physician shortage hitting Kansas hard nurse practitioners can help fill the gap, providing quality health care locally for patients.

With a master’s or doctoral level education that prepares them to provide advanced health care services, including primary and preventative care for older Kansans in their homes and communities, nurse practitioners are an underused local source for quality health care for patients throughout our state. These nurse practitioners can help keep our family members and friends out of costly, taxpayer-funded nursing homes and at home, where they want to be.

Kansas lawmakers need to hear from you today! Tell them to support Senate Sub HB 2279 so patients and the family caregivers who support them can get easy access to vital health care when and where they need it, and nurse practitioners can have full authority to do their jobs.
