I am an AARP member. I am writing to ask you to please protect ambulance patients and sign House Bill 25-1088 into law.
No Coloradan ever wants to call 9-1-1. But when it matters most, we expect highly trained medics to quickly respond. HB25-1088 protects patients who need care from receiving balance bills and establishes clear reimbursement rates to preserve patient access and improve ambulance sustainability in all Colorado communities.
By 2040, approximately 22 percent of U.S. residents will be over the age of 65, according to Census Bureau projections. Those who are age 85 and over are the fastest-growing segment of the population. As our population ages, it is critical for the state of Colorado to make sure our health care system protects consumers from surprise bills.
HB25-1088 is a win for all Coloradans. It allows the state to shield vulnerable consumers, promotes ambulance service sustainability, and includes guardrails to prevent healthcare premium increases.
Policymakers should enact safeguards to protect consumers against surprise bills. Thank you again for your leadership in helping address Colorado's health and financial security issues. Please sign this legislation into law.
Thank you.
