I am one of your constituents, and I’m asking you to support the Department of Labor’s Retirement Security Rule that will close the legal loophole that allows some in the financial industry to provide “advice” in the best interest of their own pocketbooks, not their clients.

Everyday Americans work hard to earn their retirement. We deserve to enjoy every penny when we retire, but a loophole allows some to provide bad financial advice to line their pockets at OUR expense.

The cost of this loophole is immense: Americans like me could lose up to 20% or more – that's $15,000 for a typical saver because of bad advice. Collectively, people lose 17 billion dollars every year.

This must be stopped now. That’s why I’m asking you to support closing this gaping loophole in the law. People who are working hard to save for retirement need the peace of mind to know that financial advisors put our interests first, not theirs.

Please, don’t be swayed by opponents of the proposed rule when they say it will harm retirement savers. If financial advisors are acting in the best interest of their clients like they say they are, then they wouldn’t oppose this proposed rule.
