As a concerned resident, I am alarmed by proposals that would raise residential utility rates and/or increase fixed monthly customer charges. These changes would make it harder for households to cover basic necessities like food, housing, and medicine.

It is critical that any changes to utility rates or customer charges follow proven, fair, and transparent approaches. Such approaches should prioritize equity, protect the public from unnecessary financial burdens, and ensure that oversight remains firmly in the hands of the public and regulators. Utility rates must be designed to maintain accountability and transparency, preventing automatic or unjustified increases that bypass thorough review.

I urge you to reject unfair proposals that don’t meet these criteria: fairness, transparency, public oversight, and accountability. Utility rates must not unfairly shift the financial burden onto residential customers or undermine public oversight.
