Stop Cryptocurrency Kiosk Fraud

TAKE ACTION!

Criminals are increasingly weaponizing cryptocurrency kiosks to steal from older New Yorkers, draining their life savings in a matter of minutes. They often pose as government officials, family members, or tech support representatives and pressure people to deposit cash into these machines, sending the money directly to criminals. These kiosks are commonly found in places like supermarkets and gas stations.

Older adults are especially at risk, and victims can lose significant amounts of their hard-earned savings. In New York alone, hundreds of people were scammed last year, with an average loss of $18,000.

Introduced during the 2026 legislative session, bill S.9891 (Sanders) / A.10899 (Vanel) would protect New Yorkers from cryptocurrency kiosk scams through stronger warnings, transaction limits, fraud monitoring, and other important consumer safeguards.

This new legislation has gained momentum already, getting passed by the Senate in 2026 and advancing through multiple committees in the Assembly before the end of the legislative session in June.

Please join us in urging state lawmakers to protect older New Yorkers from cryptocurrency kiosk scams and help stop fraud before more people lose their hard-earned money.
