TAKE ACTION!
Elder fraud is a serious threat. Many of these crimes go unreported. Of those we know about, scams targeting individuals age 60 and older caused over $3.4 billion in losses in 2023, according to the FBI, with the average victim of elder fraud losing $33,915.
We can help protect older adults from financial exploitation by empowering financial institutions to intervene when they see a suspicious transaction that appears to be financial exploitation through theft or fraud, and there is a proposal on the table in Albany to do just that.
Please join us in urging state lawmakers to include this proposal in the final state budget.
