TELL YOUR LEGISLATORS TO PASS BILLS TO LOWER DRUG PRICES

We need YOUR help!

Retail prices for some of the most widely used brand name prescription drugs continue to increase twice as much as inflation, making these life-sustaining medicines potentially unaffordable to many older North Dakotans. North Dakotans are paying more for nearly everything today – from groceries to gas to housing.

For older North Dakotans, the problem of inflation is only made worse by the ever-increasing price of prescription drugs. If consumer prices had risen as fast as drug prices over the last 15 years, gas would now cost $12.20 a gallon, and milk would be $13 a gallon.

Every day we hear from older North Dakotans who are forced to choose between paying for the medicines they need and paying for other essentials like food and heat. We need your legislators to take action now to bring down the price of prescription drugs in North Dakota.

Send an email to your legislators today and tell them to support the ND PERS Prescription Drug Piolt Program.

SUPPORT BILLS THAT LOWER THE COST OF MEDICINE
Dear Legislator,

As a constituent in your district, I urge you to support legislation to lower prescription drug prices. The average retail price for 143 widely used brand-name drugs has increased more than 300 percent over the past 15 years, while general inflation rose by 32% during that same time period. Constituents like me are keenly interested in prescription drug prices.

AARP asked 50+ voters about their experience with prescription drug prices and the vast majority (80%) said they take at least one prescription medication, and a majority (60%) also said drug costs are unreasonable and they have or will need to make trade- offs to afford their medications.

We can’t afford higher drug prices. Please support the prescription drug reference rate pilot project bill that will lower drug prices for North Dakotans.

Thank you,

Sincerely,
