Pass HB 2982: Important Consumer Protection for Oregonians

We need your help today! Urge your State Senators to vote YES on HB 2982 an important consumer protection law for Oregonians who lost their entire home and personal property in a major disaster.

Too many Oregonians have faced devastating losses of homes and all their personal property from major disasters such as wildfires that have swept through Oregon communities. Under current law when faced with such profound loss, Oregonians have had to spend countless hours trying to document each and every item lost to obtain minimal recovery from their insurance company. At the time of such profound loss, this added burden can be overwhelming.

HB 2982 provides some relief and will give Oregonians the option of settling for 70% of the insured value of their personal property destroyed in a major disaster rather than forcing them to itemize everything they owned.

AARP supports this HB 2982. Please take action and urge your State Senator to vote “YES” on HB 2982.
