What's Next for the State Budget

Ask Your Legislators What's Next

The Joint Finance Committee has recently passed several motions which removed critical issues from the state budget, made it difficult to reintroduce those issues into the budget, and made a major change to the overall budget process.

While this was a disappointing outcome, AARP Wisconsin is still fighting to advance our priorities. We still want:

- more support for caregivers
- broadband expansion
- reductions in the high cost of prescription drugs
- Medicaid expansion, and
- more ways for workers to save for retirement.

We are still fighting to make life better for those aged 50+ in Wisconsin and we still need your help.

Contact your legislators and ask them how they plan to address these issues. Whether you’re a champion of one issue or all five, your voice makes a difference.

Not sure what to say? Visit our blog for talking points, and if you have a story, experience, or connection to any of the issues, be sure to mention that in your message.

What's Next?
Dear Lawmaker ___________,

I am disappointed with recent motions that were passed to gut the budget and change the budget process. However, I am still hopeful that legislators can work together to improve the lives of Wisconsinites.

What are your plans to move Wisconsin forward and address the issues of importance to your constituents?

Now more than ever, we need lawmakers to work together to make sure Wisconsin is a great place to live, work, and thrive. I am counting on you to make sure the issues that matter to me are addressed in a meaningful way.

Thank you.
