Please Support America's Greatest Support System
Dear [Decision Maker],
Please support America's greatest support system--family caregivers--by cosponsoring the bipartisan Credit for Caring Act to create a federal, nonrefundable tax credit for eligible family caregivers who work. Today, about 40 million Americans help care for their older parents, spouses, and other loved ones so they can live independently in their homes and communities. They provide unpaid care that's valued at about $470 billion annually, helping to eliminate the need for more expensive nursing home care--saving taxpayers money. Family caregivers help their loved ones with bathing and dressing, transportation, preparing meals, and much more--most while working full or part time. They also use their own money to provide this care, causing caregiving families financial strain. That's why I'm joining AARP in urging you to cosponsor the bipartisan Credit for Caring Act, a commonsense step to help family caregivers stay in the workforce and be more secure financially.
