We need your help to combat elder financial abuse in Georgia!

Multiple national studies have found that financial exploitation is the most common and under-reported type of elder abuse, with estimates that one of every six adults over age 64 has been a victim of financial abuse. That’s why AARP Georgia, the Alzheimer’s Association, and many other groups are fighting for passage of HB 221, the Uniform Power of Attorney Act (UPOAA).

HB 221 addresses these issues and other unfortunate cases where an agent representing a Georgia adult either does not understand his or her responsibilities, misuses the power of attorney, or outright abuses the power of attorney, all of which hurt the individual and his or her family.

This bill has already passed the Georgia House of Representatives but is being held up in the Senate Rules Committee. Ask your senator to support HB 221 and allow the Senate to vote on this important legislation today!
