Please move House Bill 100 out of the Professional Licensure Committee for consideration by the full House of Representatives

As your constituent, please urge Chairman Mark Mustio to move House Bill 100, which would give full practice authority to nurse practitioners, allowing these trained medical professionals to perform medical tasks such as prescribing medications without the supervision of a physician, and ordering further tests, out of the Professional Licensure Committee so that it can be voted on by the entire House of Representatives

Dear [Decision Maker],

Please move House Bill 100 out of the Professional Licensure Committee!

House Bill 100 allows nurse practitioners full practice authority allowing them to perform medical tasks such as prescribing medications without the supervision of a physician, ordering further tests, and diagnosing conditions. Nurse practitioners are medical professionals with extensive training, but their ability to practice is limited by Pennsylvania law.

As Pennsylvania's population ages, the need for more medical professionals is growing but the number of new doctors isn't keeping up. Nurse practitioners could fill that gap, increase access to a wide range of health care services for older adults and their caregivers, especially in rural and urban underserved areas where few physicians are available.

Decades of evidence demonstrate that nurse practitioners provide as high quality care as do physicians in primary care services.

House Bill 100 was referred to the House Professional Licensure Committee and has not moved since March 21, 2017. Please contact your Representative today and ask him or her to urge the Chair of the Professional Licensure Committee, Representative Mark Mustio, to move House Bill 100 out of committee so that it can be considered for a vote by the entire House of Representatives.
