How Many Ways Can They Raise Our Rates?

The Missouri House will be considering legislation that would raise electric and gas rates on residential customers.

First, the legislation allows electric utilities to increase rates now and in the future with fake caps on increases that allow monopoly utilities to recover their costs, from us, their customers, with interest, in later years.

Another provision allows gas companies to implement a “weather tax” that would allow gas companies to raise their rates if the winters are too warm and electric companies to raise their rates when ratepayers conserve energy.

Call your State Representative NOW at 1-844-288-1085 and urge them to oppose any legislation that raises rates on Missouri ratepayers.

Dear [Decision Maker],

I would urge you to vote against Senate Bill 564 and any other attempts by monopoly utilities to raise rates on their customers, your constituents.

Missourians don't see automatic increases in our income, especially those of us on a fixed income from Social Security. Please oppose any legislation that would raise rates on your constituents.

Sincerely,
