Older Louisianans want to stay in their homes

Right now, over 28,000 Louisianans are stuck on a waiting list to receive the essential home and community based services they need to stay in their homes—where they want to be—as they age.

These services, such as assistance with bathing, dressing, or medication, help older Louisianans stay out of costly taxpayer funded nursing homes.

On average, Louisianans have to wait more than 7 years to receive this critical help. That’s why AARP is fighting for House Bill 334 and Senate Bill 357 a bill that will help improve choice and quality of care for older Louisianans.  Because all Louisianans should be able to choose where they live, as they get older.

Tell your lawmakers: Older Louisianans want to stay in their homes. Support House Bill 334 and Senate Bill 357.

Older Louisianans want to stay in their homes.

Dear [Decision Maker],

Older Louisianans want to live independently at home for as long as possible. However, Louisiana is not doing a good job of caring for our seniors. We rank 47th in senior health and more than 28,000 individuals are stuck on a waiting list to receive essential home and community based services like assistance with medication or bathing and dressing.

Please help us remain in our homes and out of more costly tax-payer funded nursing homes. Vote Yes on SB 357.

SB 357 will implement a managed long-term care plan for older Louisianans and improve health outcomes and coordination of care.

Sincerely,
