Time is running out for Iowa family caregivers!

for-convio.jpg

Right now, the Iowa legislature has an opportunity to pass the 2018 Iowa CARE Act—a no-cost, commonsense bill that will support Iowa’s 317,000 caregiving families when their loved ones go into the hospital and as they transition home.  The bill, in most recent form, has no recorded opposition. But time is running out to get the job done.

Tell your State Senator to support Iowa’s caregiving families.

We know Iowa hospitals work to provide the best possible care for their patients. But the fact remains today: too many of Iowa’s family caregivers, from across the state, are not involved in receiving instruction about the medical tasks they need to perform for their loved ones.

The 2018 Iowa CARE Act would make sure hospitals identify, notify, and provide after-care instructions to family caregivers when their spouses, parents, or other loved ones are in the hospital – prior to discharge.

Your lawmakers need to hear from you today. Just a few short weeks remain to pass the 2018 Iowa CARE Act and support family caregivers this year. Don’t let the clock run out.

Take action NOW! Tell your State Senator to pass a STRONG 2018 Iowa CARE Act this session!

Don't let time run out for Iowa's caregiving families. Pass the 2018 Iowa CARE Act this session.

Dear Senator,

Right now, you have an opportunity to pass a no-cost commonsense bill to support Iowa's 317,000 caregiving families when their loved ones go into the hospital and as they transition home.

The 2018 Iowa CARE Act, in most recent form, has no recorded opposition and would make sure hospitals identify, notify, and provide after-care instructions to family caregivers when their spouses, parents, or other loved ones are in the hospital prior to discharge.

We know Iowa hospitals work to provide the best possible care for their patients. But the fact remains today: too many of Iowa's family caregivers, from across the state, are not involved in receiving instruction about the medical tasks they need to perform for their loved ones.

That's why I urge you to pass the 2018 Iowa CARE Act. This bill is supported by AARP Iowa, Alzheimer's Association: Greater Iowa Chapter, American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network Iowa - ACS CAN, American Heart Association Iowa, Brain Injury Alliance of Iowa, Iowa Commission of Asian & Pacific Islander Affairs, Iowa Primary Care Association, Visiting Nurse Services of Iowa, Iowa Primary Care Association, Iowa Association of Rural Health Clinics, Iowa Association of Area Agencies on Aging, Iowa CareGivers, National MS Society, Upper Midwest Chapter, and Older Iowans Legislature.

Don't let this session end without passing a strong 2018 Iowa CARE Act. Iowa's caregiving families are counting on you.

Sincerely,
