HELP PREVENT DRUG PRICE GOUGING IN ILLINOIS

Drug prices are spiking out of control. A December 2017 AARP Rx Price Watch Report found that between 2003 and 2015, drug costs increased 6.4 percent per year at a time when overall inflation hovered at just one-tenth of one percent.  That’s right – drug prices rose 64 times faster than inflation.

We’ve all seen the news coverage.  Epi-Pens jumped 508 percent between 2010 and 2015. The lifesaving Nalaxone Auto-Injector, used to save lives during an opiod overdose, rose by the same huge margin. Albuterol sulfate, which treats asthma, jumped more than 4,000 percent.

Vote Yes on HB 4900

Dear [Decision Maker],

Drug prices are spiking out of control. Between 2003 and 2015, drug costs increased 6.4 percent per year at a time when overall inflation hovered at just one-tenth of one percent.

Illinois needs predictability and affordability in drug pricing. HB 4900 WILL accomplish that.

This isn't about price control.

HB 4900 would simply require generic drug manufacturers to make their case to the Attorney General if their prices rose more than 30 percent in one year, 50 percent in two years or 75 percent in three years.

Vote YES on HB 4900.

Sincerely,
