Ask Your Legislators to Support Paid Family Leave

Every day, Connecticut's 459,000 family caregivers manage medications, make meals, change bandages, and drive loved ones to medical appointments. Caregivers help their family, friends, and neighbors recover from serious illness or injury, and they help their older loved ones live independently at home where they want to be. Caregivers take on huge responsibilities that can be overwhelming, stressful and exhausting. More than half also juggle full- or part-time jobs.

That is why we are asking legislators to pass SB1/HB5003, An Act Concerning Paid Family and Medical Leave. Lawmakers in several other states have already taken action to create paid family leave programs, and it's time for our elected officials in Connecticut to do the same.

Please take a moment to urge your legislators to support Connecticut's caregivers and pass SB1/HB5003. Caregivers are there when their loved ones need them. We need a sensible paid family leave policy to be there for them.

Dear [Decision Maker],

Across Connecticut, more than 459,000 family caregivers provide unpaid help to their parents, spouses and other loved ones. Caregivers help their family, friends, and neighbors recover from serious illness or injury, and they help their older loved ones live independently at home where they want to be. These family caregivers take on huge responsibilities that can be overwhelming, stressful and exhausting. More than half also juggle full- or part-time jobs.

Paid family leave is working in other states - including New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Rhode Island - and we know that it can work here in Connecticut. Please support SB1/HB5003. Connecticut caregivers and care recipients are counting on you.

Sincerely,
