Tell your state representative:

I’m counting on you to vote yes to remove barriers on Accessory Dwelling Units!

On Tuesday, April 19, the Eugene City Council will hold a public hearing and vote on an ordinance regarding Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs). As of June 1, 2017, a new law requires local zoning ordinances to allow Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) nearly everywhere single-family houses are permitted. Though cities were asked to comply with the law by July 1, 2018, the Eugene City Council has not made that change.

ADUs would help create needed low-cost housing by allowing homeowners to add apartments, suites for caregivers to live nearby and create affordable housing.

Tell your city representative to take this step in creating housing choice, and to remove requirements that prevent ADUs from being built in Eugene.

Eugene needs Accessory Dwelling Units

Dear [Decision Maker],

Eugene is facing a crisis. Housing options are few and out of step with demographic needs.
Implementing SB 1051 and removing barriers to allow ADUs is a small step toward finding solutions for our housing crisis.

This unprecedented housing crisis in Eugene is jeopardizing the dream of aging in place and community for many older residents. ADUs would help create needed low-cost housing by allowing homeowners to add apartments, suites for caregivers to live nearby, create affordable housing and bring in extra income for homeowners.

We need housing options and allowing ADUs to be built is a small step in the right direction.

As your constituent, I am writing to urge you to stand with Eugene residents of all ages struggling in the current housing crisis. Please vote yes to removing barriers to ADUs in Eugene.

Sincerely,
