AARP MN Volunteers at the CapitolMinnesotans Can't Wait One More Year!

Tell your lawmaker to end elder abuse now.

Minnesota is the only state in the country that does not require assisted living facilities to be licensed. Reports of elder abuse, uncovered more than two years ago, continue - and vulnerable and older adults remain at risk.

How much longer must they wait for lawmakers to act?

Lawmakers need to pass strong, sufficiently funded legislation this year that will require assisted living facilities to be licensed -- and will stop these facilities from discharging residents without adequate notice or cause, retaliating against residents and their families, and ongoing deceptive marketing practices.

They must hear from YOU. Don't let them fail Minnesota's older adults again.

Take action NOW! Tell your legislator to end elder abuse.

End Elder Abuse Now

Dear

Minnesota is the only state in the country that does not require assisted living facilities to be licensed. Reports of elder abuse, uncovered more than 2 years ago, continue with the Minnesota Department of Health receiving approximately 400 cases of abuse and neglect every week.

How much longer must Minnesota's vulnerable and older adults wait for state lawmakers to act?

Don't fail Minnesota's seniors again.

I'm writing as a constituent to urge you to pass strong, sufficiently funded legislation that will require assisted living facilities to be licensed. Licensing will stop these facilities from discharging residents without adequate notice or cause, retaliating against residents and their families, and ongoing deceptive marketing practices.

Also, sufficient funding is needed for the Department of Health to have the resources to provide the necessary oversight of these facilities and protect vulnerable adults from abuse.

Minnesota's vulnerable and older adults are still at risk. They're counting on you.

Sincerely,
