Thank New Mexico Lawmakers for Protecting New Mexicans and Voting to Lower Prescription Drug Prices

Join AARP in thanking New Mexico lawmakers for passing Senate Bill 1, the Wholesale PrescriptioniStock-1159345748.jpg Drug Importation Act.

Older New Mexicans are struggling with rising prescription drug prices. Year-after-year they have seen prices increase by double-digits – with no end in sight. That is why 72 percent of older Americans say they are concerned about the cost of their medications, making it a priority for policymakers to act on prescription drug prices.

Last week New Mexico lawmakers did just that with Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signing into law SB1. The law allows prescription drugs to be imported from Canada, helping New Mexicans save on their medicines.

Join AARP in thanking New Mexico lawmakers for working to lower costs so that all New Mexicans can afford their vital prescription drugs.

Thank You for Putting New Mexicans First and Working to Lower High Prescription Drug Costs

Dear [Decision Maker],

Thank you for passing Senate Bill 1, the Wholesale Prescription Drug Importation Act, which allows the importation of prescription drugs from Canada, saving New Mexicans on the cost of their medicines.

New Mexicans are struggling with rising prescription drug prices and cannot afford to wait any longer. Year-after-year they have seen prices increase by double-digits with no end in sight. That is why 72 percent of older Americans say they are concerned about the cost of their medications, making it a priority for policymakers to act on prescription drug prices.

There is no reason Americans should be paying the highest drug prices in the world. The time to act is now and SB1 is a positive step forward in addressing these high costs, that leave people choosing between critical medications and other living expenses. Medications don't work if people can't afford them.

Thank you for protecting New Mexicans from the anti-competitive practices of big drug companies and lowering prescription drug prices for everyone by passing SB1.

Sincerely,
