Help Push Back On Unfair Rate Hikes

AARP advocates who sent e-mail to the NC Utilities Commission and have been showing up at public hearings across the state are pushing back on a rate hike requests by Duke Energy Progress that could cost residential ratepayers a lot.

The company’s plans for grid improvements are excessive and the $8.7 billion requested over ten years should be rejected. As numerous interveners recommend, the matter should be set for another hearing.

An outcry of your opposition help lead the Utilities Commission’s Public Staff (the independent consumer advocate that advises the NC Utilities Commission) to recommend a substantial cut in rates instead.

Please urge the Utilities Commission to help keep our rates fair and reasonable and make these changes to trim the Duke Carolinas request.
