Tell Governor Ricketts to Disclose the Names of Nursing Homes with COVID-19

As each day of the pandemic passes, Nebraskans worry about the health and safety of those inside nursing homes and assisted living communities. The State of Nebraska must shed light on what is happening in our nursing facilities by taking swift and decisive action to ensure the health and safety of residents and staff.

Nebraska's nursing homes are ground zero for COVID-19. On May 13, the state reported that 70% of COVID-19 deaths in Nebraska were among residents in nursing facilities.

The lack of transparency from state health officials about exactly where these outbreaks are occurring only adds anxiety. The state should be transparent and regularly release the names of those facilities along with the number of cases.

Residents and family members deserve to have this information for their own health decisions as they consider possible next steps and interventions for their loved ones. Without that information, it is nearly impossible to make sound decisions on what's best for their loved ones.

Tell Governor Pete Ricketts to take immediate action and publicly release the names of nursing facilities with confirmed COVID-19 cases among residents and staff.

Dear [Decision Maker],

As each day of the pandemic passes, Nebraskans are increasingly worried about the health and safety of those inside nursing homes and assisted living communities. The State of Nebraska must shed light on what is happening in our nursing facilities by taking swift and decisive action to ensure the health and safety of residents and staff.

I urge you to make public the names of nursing homes and assisted living communities with confirmed COVID-19 cases among residents and staff. More information and greater transparency is a key tool in the fight against the coronavirus. Thank you for your efforts to increase protections for our most vulnerable Nebraskans.
