Ask Lawmakers to Help Nursing Home Residents

Please take a moment to tell lawmakers that nursing home residents should have the ability to install cameras in their rooms and that nursing homes should not have blanket immunity from civil liability because of COVID-19. Nearly one in five nursing home residents have been diagnosed with COVID-19, and thousands have died. Elected officials MUST give these residents access to basic technology and ensure that they have options for recourse if they are harmed.

Dear [Decision Maker],

Although fewer than one percent of Connecticut residents reside in nursing homes, nursing home residents have accounted for nearly 20 percent of all COVID-19 infections in Connecticut and more than 60 percent of deaths. This is unacceptable. I need you to take action on three important issues.

I am counting on you to take action on behalf of the nearly 22,000 Connecticut residents who live in nursing homes. Please consider special session legislation to allow cameras in nursing facilities, and ask Governor Lamont to end nursing home immunity from civil liability.
